2.95 billion yuan online gambling case revealed: many people were sentenced for using quadripartite payment platforms to settle USDT and other virtual currencies

Comparative news, according to a report by Pengping News, the Xilin Gol League Intermediate People's Court of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region handed down a second judgment upholding Ma's original judgment in the case involving illegal business. This is one of a series of cases where the four party payment platforms provided funds to pay and settle gambling platforms. Some of the defendants in this case were accused of receiving commissions or rebates in the form of virtual currencies such as USDT.

According to the investigation, between May 24, 2022 and October 18, 2023, 5 people including Ma collected and paid illegal funds through third-party payment accounts, and used virtual wallets to collect USDT virtual currency and bank card payments. Through 105 merchants of 10 third-party payment companies, the settlement amount exceeded RMB 2.95 billion.

In the end, the court found that Ma had committed the crime of illegal business and was finally sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison and a fine of RMB 3 million yuan. The five people who arrived in the case one after another had already been sentenced by the court to 3 to 6 years in prison for illegal business.
