OceanBase plans to raise 2 billion to 3 billion yuan to expand AI database layout

Comparatively, according to Bloomberg, OceanBase, a database company supported by Ma Yun, is negotiating Series A financing with investors and plans to raise about 2 billion to 3 billion yuan (about 295 million to 443 million US dollars) to promote the company's independent operation and accelerate the development of the AI database business.

OceanBase was initially developed in 2010 to meet Ant Group's internal database needs, and has supported Ant Group's ability to process 500,000 transactions per second during major promotions such as “Double 11.” According to people familiar with the matter, OceanBase is currently strengthening AI analysis capabilities. In addition to processing structured data, it is also improving processing capabilities for semi-structured and unstructured data such as videos, hoping to become a key infrastructure connecting enterprise data with AI models and AI agents. To facilitate future spin-offs and listings, OceanBase has established an independent board of directors in 2024 and established an employee equity incentive plan. Also, according to people familiar with the matter, Ant Digital Technologies (Ant Digital Technologies), the corporate service division under Ant Group, is also exploring independent financing solutions.
