According to Yonhap News Agency, South Korean President Lee Jae-myung had a dinner meeting with SK Group Chairman Choi Tae-won on Thursday. It is reported that the two sides may discuss South Korea's “three major projects” in the semiconductor and artificial intelligence (AI) fields, including SK Hynix's investment plans in southwestern Korea.

This meeting comes at a time when the market is speculating that the US may ask South Korea to increase investment in the US semiconductor industry. South Korea's Minister of Trade and Industry Kim Jong-kwan said earlier in the day that Seoul and Washington have not yet begun negotiations on related issues.

Lee Jae-myung and Choi Tae-won also met at the AI summit in San Francisco last month. South Korea's presidential office said it was inconvenient to comment on the details of Thursday's meeting since it was not possible to confirm the undisclosed schedule.
