After the US, Hong Kong merchants became targets of Bitcoin bomb extortion email attacks

The South China Morning Post reports that following the US and Canada, Hong Kong merchants are being targeted by Bitcoin criminals. These crooks threatened that if bitcoins are not sent according to their requested time, victims will receive a bomb.

Network Box CEO Michael Gazeley was one of the victims. According to reports, Gazeley received an email threatening a Bitcoin bomb. The scammer threatened that if Gazeley wanted to avoid receiving a bomb at the office, he would have to pay 20,000 dollars. However, Gazeley was 99.99% sure that the content of the email was untrustworthy. He also pointed out that the email had typos and grammatical problems.

Currently, the relevant authorities in Hong Kong have not provided further information on the issue, so the exact number of companies that have received the Bitcoin bomb threat is unknown.

According to a previous report from Webmaster's House, the US government has confirmed the existence of bomb-threatening emails and advised people to file complaints and feedback with relevant agencies. Additionally, Australian and New Zealand government agencies are also investigating the Bitcoin bomb threat.
