Singapore's International Commercial Court freezes around S$75 million in crypto assets

According to the news, the Singapore International Commercial Court (SICC) has ordered the freezing of approximately S$75 million in Bitcoin and USD Coin, involving a transfer dispute between a major global cryptocurrency trading platform operator (plaintiff and related company) and a long-term customer. In a judgment handed down by Singapore High Court Judge Aidan Xu and SICC international judges Anthony Meagher and David Goddard in March 2026, the court granted the plaintiff an interim injunction prohibiting the defendant from disposing of the 816,773 USDC and 780 BTC and corresponding proceeds transferred from the platform's two dedicated wallets, and required the defendant to disclose the whereabouts of the assets, but did not allow the plaintiff to use this information to apply for similar injunctions in other jurisdictions. The defendant had 2,500 BTC and 2,500 BCH in a dedicated wallet. The plaintiff alleges that due to technical reasons, the internal ledger did not record the defendant's transfer operation in March 2020, and the wallet appeared empty. Based on this misperception, the plaintiff transferred 2,500 BTC and 2,500 BCH to the defendant's other wallets in July 2024. The defendant then exchanged 20 BTC for approximately 816,773 USDC and transferred 780 BTC to a non-plaintiff escrow wallet between July and November 2024. After discovering a ledger error in January 2025, the plaintiff froze the defendant's wallet and recovered the remaining 1,700 BTC and 2,500 BCH.

FT: Manus founder Xiao Hong's exit restrictions will be lifted and he is ready to return to Singapore

Comparing news, according to surveillance, the Financial Times quoted two people familiar with the matter as saying that regulators are preparing to lift exit restrictions on Manus founder and CEO Xiao Hong and others. Xiao Hong has told employees that she plans to return to Singapore soon. Xiao Hong and Ji Yichao, co-founder and chief scientist of Manus, were asked to stay in the country in March of this year. At the time, regulators were investigating whether Meta's acquisition of Manus violated relevant regulations. In April, regulators asked Meta to reverse the roughly $2 billion acquisition. Manus has officially confirmed this week that it will resume independent operations. The split plan has also basically taken shape. Original shareholders such as Tencent, Zhenge Fund, and HSG will participate in the repurchase. Tencent will also take over most of Benchmark's shares and become the single shareholder with the most shares in Manus, but will not hold more than 50% of the shares. Manus will not be integrated into Tencent and will continue to operate independently in Singapore. The final plan also requires regulatory approval. Judging from the current plan, what the regulatory authorities are asking to break up is Meta's acquisition relationship with Manus, and they are not asking Manus to move back the business.

Reuters: Microsoft has closed at least 15 branches in China in the past five years, and AI overseas business has become the key to retention

Comparative news, according to a Reuters report, Microsoft has shut down at least 15 Chinese branches and joint ventures in the past five years due to multiple factors such as the tense relationship between China and the US, China's promotion of domestic software substitution, and US export controls, and is implementing a strategic contraction. In 2023, the company considered withdrawing from the Chinese market. Some executives believed that “taking too many geopolitical risks and limited economic returns,” but in the end, it was not implemented. Microsoft disclosed in 2024 that the Chinese business only accounted for about 1.5% of its global revenue. According to the report, Microsoft finally decided to stay in China, mainly because it has developed a profit path — providing Azure cloud and AI services to overseas Chinese companies such as ByteDance and Shein to help them operate in compliance in overseas markets. Furthermore, the company believes that retaining business in China is still of strategic importance for acquiring Chinese engineering talents. However, analysts question the sustainability of this AI business model: the service relies on third-party models such as OpenAI, and Chinese companies are increasingly using domestic alternatives such as Kimi, which have comparable performance and lower costs. Microsoft's R&D center in China is also shrinking. Its predecessor, Microsoft Research Asia, has successively set up new laboratories in Vancouver, Singapore, and Tokyo. In 2024, the company provided 1,000 top engineers with job opportunities to transfer to the US and three other countries. Only about one-third accepted, and most senior engineers switched to domestic universities and technology companies. A Microsoft spokesperson responded that the company would continue to be committed to the Chinese market, but did not comment on the details of the specific decision. ByteDance and Shein did not respond to related inquiries.

Manus and Lin Junyang are back

Source: Tencent Technology Author: Joanne Editor: Su Yang On August 12, two star projects and characters that have received a lot of attention in the AI community announced their return. On August 11, local time in the US, AI startup Manus issued a notice to users stating that the company will “soon resume operating as an independent company.” As part of the separation from Meta, data generated by some users on or after December 29, 2025 will be removed in accordance with regulatory requirements. According to the company's notice, affected users are required to complete data backup by 7:59 Singapore time on August 23. From August 23 to August 24, the relevant data will be deleted and affected accounts will be temporarily inaccessible. Starting at 8 o'clock Singapore time on August 25, users can restore previously backed up data and re-use the service. Manus said the adjustments were not due to data breaches or security incidents, but rather measures taken to meet regulatory requirements in specific jurisdictions as the company resumed independent operations. Unaffected users can continue to use the service normally without taking any action. A few hours later, another important return news came from Lin Junyang. The former technical leader of Alibaba's Qwen project announced the establishment of an AI lab Pragmatik (p7k) Labs (pragmatic technology) in Shanghai to focus on research on next-generation intelligence in the digital and physical worlds. Both are intelligent projects, involving the return of a company and the restarting of a technology leader, but they all point to the same change: AI competition is extending from the model's ability itself to how the model can use tools, adapt to the environment, and complete actual tasks. The Meta acquisition has entered the cancellation phase. Manus's deal with Meta began on December 29, 2025. On the same day, Meta announced plans to buy Manus. The company was founded in 2022 and initially developed in China before moving to Singapore, where it mainly develops AI smart products. The two sides did not announce the amount of the deal at the time, but previous reports indicated that the deal was about US$2 billion, and the total potential value, including employee retention arrangements, could reach US$2.5 billion. Following the completion of the acquisition, Meta plans to apply Manus' AI agent technology to its consumer and enterprise products to enhance AI business capabilities. However, the deal subsequently received regulatory attention. On April 28, CCTV news reported that the Manus merger and acquisition case, which has received much attention from all parties, has landed, and the China Foreign Investment Safety Review Working Mechanism Office (National Development and Reform Commission) made a decision prohibiting foreign investment in the acquisition of the Manus project according to law and regulations, requiring the parties to cancel the acquisition transaction. Since then, Manus and Meta have begun to push ahead with the separation of operations and stopped sharing data between the two sides. According to previous information, the two sides completed the separation at the operational level in May. Currently, Manus is completing the final stages of data processing and preparations for independent operation. This data adjustment mainly relates to data generated on and after December 29, 2025. Manus said the relevant data was deleted to meet regulatory requirements. The company has launched data backup and recovery tools to help affected users keep task records. Affected users can back up multiple times during the backup window. If users continue to generate new task data after completing the first backup, they need to back up again to ensure that the latest data is saved. Manus said affected users will not be charged during the backup period. Once the account is reinstated, the company will also provide a return bonus. For users registered with an Apple ID or Facebook account, since Manus may not have a corresponding email address, the company reminds users to pay attention to in-app notifications. The company behind Manus's founding team and product line Manus is Butterfly Effect, founded in 2022. Founder Xiao Hong previously worked in enterprise software development for a long time. According to data, he studied software engineering at Huazhong University of Science and Technology. After graduating in 2015, he founded Wuhan Nightingale Technology. Its WeChat tools “Yipan Assistant” and “WeChat Assistant” serve more than 2 million commercial users. Butterfly Effect then launched Monica, an AI assistant product that integrates the capabilities of multiple language models. Manus...

Note: The white dolphins that ravaged East China gradually drifted away and started Huo Huo's granary. However, the inertia and variables of semiconductors appear simultaneously. This article is not an investigation, a side dish for drinking, and an essay. ◎ Liquidity※The University of Tokyo indicated that it will gradually increase the frequency of overnight reverse repurchase operations. I didn't mention strength, but frequency. This is a signal that significantly increases the intensity of water discharge. ※Western University is using the help of Western University to whitewash the CPI data. Even though all the data is true, the opinions and financial data of Huajie Pai Investment Bank show that the probability of interest rate hikes in recent months has been reduced to 45%. However, when interpreting the July CPI data, they emphasized a year-on-year decline, but overlooked or deliberately concealed the problem of a significant month-on-month increase. However, after a long period of drought, Fengganlin's market was no longer able to take advantage of these whitewashed or adjusted signals and data. These were beneficial in curbing interest rate hikes, and the cost was half higher by 3.5%. ◎ Semiconductor industry semiconductor.semiconductor.handota※The biggest news is on Samsung. On the one hand, it introduced Anthropic Claude, which greatly compressed chip verification and quality inspection time, and on the other hand, its glass substrate reliability evaluation was not carried out, leading to delays in mass production time, and the global technical barriers and production capacity highland of “glass substrates” are also in the hands of a group of “Kumamoto Old-fashioned Semiconductor” giants at Kanda Izakaya. ※Japanese semiconductors are falling short in Nishiyama, but the skinny camels are bigger than horses, especially in some vertical industry segments. Global semiconductor giants seem to avoid competitive traps; they don't concentrate resources, duplicate construction, or internal competition. Therefore, Kumamoto's concentrated semiconductor cluster is still far ahead of Korea in testing encapsulated glass substrates, etc. This is also the main reason why I brought out Zamboara for my studies and drinking today. This is not from the Sapporo headquarters, close to what kind of water, but a geothermal water source in Oita, Kyushu. ※Korean media reported that “Singapore Sovereign Fund Temasek” underscored Samsung and Hynix. First test in front of the US panel, with a rise before the main Korean target. ◎ Investment focus. However, Binmei's stock holdings were exchanged for blood. After clearing Apple Tesla's holdings and reducing Google's upstart Intel to become the second largest holding target, Di ranked fourth. ◎Geopolitical*Continued reduction in risk factor weighting in Iran and Israel. ※The crude oil market continues to be turbulent, and the forecasts of major international crude oil production capacity and trading organizations Q2Q3 and even for the whole year are completely opposite. The IEA warns that the Q3 crude oil supply gap is expected to double and reach a 5-year high for the whole year. Meanwhile, OPEC lowered its forecast for an increase in crude oil demand this year. Stakeholder of oil requires careful evaluation. The above are not investment suggestions, direct quotes, and responsibility. 0...
