US sanctions two more Iranian crypto exchanges to include “economic anger” in action

Comparing news, the US Treasury Department imposed sanctions on Iranian crypto exchanges Shelbit and Aban Tether on Friday, accusing them of assisting entities such as the Revolutionary Guard to evade sanctions and transfer funds. OFAC also sanctioned the Shelbit operator and the companies it controls in multiple countries. According to the Ministry of Finance, wallets linked to the Revolutionary Guard transferred more than $1 million in cryptocurrencies to Shelbit and received more than $2 million from the exchange. An earlier Reuters investigation showed that Shelbit has processed at least $4 billion in transactions involving Iranian gambling sites and the Revolutionary Guard in the past two years, of which at least $676 million went to Binance. Binance responded that Shelbit did not open an account on its platform and that the relevant user accounts have been frozen and reported. Additionally, Aban Tether is accused of processing multi-million dollar transactions for sanctioned platforms such as Nobitex.

What kind of judicial game is hidden behind the CZ amnesty?

What kind of judicial game is hidden behind the CZ amnesty?

Author: The Pomp Podcast Compilation: Odaily Planet Daily, Azuma Original title: Attorney CZ personally tells the behind-the-scenes story of “Amnesty” Opening Pompliano: Hello everyone, today we are having a very important and serious conversation. I invited Teresa Goody Guillén, CZ's personal attorney, who was deeply involved in CZ's pardon process. I've seen a lot of controversy online about CZ being pardoned, such as how was he released? Does this involve “trading rights and money”? Maybe even corruption? So I contacted Teresa and wanted to discuss these concerns with her face-to-face, whether it was simple details or sharp questions. What is the reason for the amnesty? Pompliano: First let us know what is CZ being charged with? What was his reason for being pardoned? Teresa: CZ is accused of Binance's failure to implement and maintain anti-money laundering programs and compliance systems. To be clear, this is a regulatory violation and a compliance issue, but there is no money laundering; it's just that Binance has not implemented an anti-money laundering plan. Therefore, he was pardoned because he should not have been prosecuted. Trump also said in his amnesty statement that he doesn't believe CZ has committed any crime and should not be prosecuted. Therefore, he was pardoned for the sake of justice. CZ is the only one to be prosecuted or even sent to jail for this specific charge or similar nature (characterized by no fraud, no victims, no criminal record, etc.). He was treated unfairly differently from everyone else in history. Pompliano: Why is he being treated unfairly? Teresa: I think this is part of a “cryptocurrency war” initiated by regulators. It coincided with the collapse of FTX, and they needed to take action against someone, and they had to sue and persecute someone, and CZ unfortunately became this person. Pompliano: If I understand correctly, it's because the company did or didn't do something that the regulators are eyeing them. Is it common for executives to take personal responsibility for this? On the one hand, I can understand that the CEO is responsible for the company's actions; but on the other hand (I did a cursory Google search), large banks or other financial institutions have also been charged for similar matters, but the executives themselves have not been implicated. What are the usual approaches and differences for companies and executives? Teresa: Exactly, executives never get sued for this kind of thing. You can call it a large financial institution; it's likely that it has been charged with the same infractions or worse, but we've never seen any CEO prosecuted. This has never happened, and no other executive has ever been prosecuted for these specific crimes, which is generally not how the justice system works. Demystifying the amnesty process Pompliano: We now know that CZ was indeed pardoned, but I still have many questions, and I've seen many people speculate on the inside story of the amnesty... so how did the amnesty actually come about? Is there some kind of “power and money transaction”? Is there corruption? I'd like you to help us first explain the process of getting an amnesty, and then let's discuss all the speculations in the community. Teresa: Okay. To be granted amnesty, you must first fill out an application and write the reasons for the application, after which a series of people will review the materials and give their opinions. The Department of Justice, the Pardon Attorney, the Office of Pardon, and the White House General Counsel's Office will all participate. Therefore, before a pardon is granted, it is necessary to go through extensive legal reviews, all of which must be carried out on the submitted application. As such, it's a relatively standardized process. Pompliano: Who will receive the application once you've submitted it? Is there a dedicated pardon office? Is there a dedicated person in charge? Will the application be submitted directly to the President? It should be impossible for the president to personally screen hundreds or thousands of applications, so who is processing them in the process? Teresa: There are many ways to process a pardon application. The exact method depends on how the application for pardon is transmitted, such as whether it is through a special pardon lawyer, or through the Ministry of Justice's website, or through other channels, and eventually reviewed by the examiner. I know that different people apply for pardon in different ways, but the president doesn't personally receive these requests, at least not in the circumstances I know. Pompliano: So after the application is submitted, someone reviews it and gives the general...

Binance Strikes Back: Building a New On-Chain Landscape with Alpha and Aster

Binance Strikes Back: Building a New On-Chain Landscape with Alpha and Aster

Author: Joe Zhou, Foresight News Original title: Binance recreates two “small Binance” Binance is building a chain kingdom. It recreated two “little Binance”, one Alpha and one Aster. One of them focuses on “on-chain inventory” and the other focuses on “on-chain contracts.” Binance's core business is contract and spot, and now it also needs to keep a close grip on the “on-chain spot and contract business.” Today, it has successfully found a way to play “on-chain” and has also begun to explore the “on-chain contract” business. For a long time, “on-chain” attention was mainly occupied by Solana ecosystem projects, and “on-chain contracts” were mainly dominated by Hyperliquid, all of which directly threatened Binance's core business. Binance is facing competition between two new paradigms. It is often not the old paradigm that can defeat the giants, but the new paradigm. Nokia, Intel, Yahoo, Motorola... too many companies that were invincible in the old paradigm are left behind in the transformation of the new paradigm. And the giants that have not been left behind continue to shine. In addition to QQ, Tencent also created WeChat, Alibaba invented Tmall in addition to Taobao, and now Binance is also building its own “little Binance.” The contract business has always been Binance's most important and largest source of revenue. Hyperliquid's perpetual contract trading volume has surpassed Binance's 13%, and its derivatives holdings are even close to 30% of Binance's. It directly threatens the lifeblood of Binance. The spot business is Binance's most important customer acquisition channel and is of great strategic importance. Solana, on the other hand, continues to grab the attention of crypto users. For a long time, almost all of the hot topics in the crypto world focused on Solana rather than Binance. A large number of users choose to trade on-chain on decentralized exchanges rather than on centralized exchanges. Binance's coin listing news has been regarded as a “reverse indicator” and a “peaking indicator” for a long time. This has made the Binance coin listing effect almost disappear. Binance's two core businesses, contract and spot, have all been challenged by the on-chain world. This also made them decide to lay out “on-chain contracts” and “on-chain stocks.” Alpha is the most important location for Binance to enter “on-chain stock.” Over the past six months, it has gained momentum and gradually occupied an important position in the Binance ecosystem. The week of September 15 to September 21 is considered the “week of interest rate cuts.” During this week, Binance Alpha performed very well, with the launch of 10 tokens, 4 of which increased by more than 2 times, Aster's highest increase of 334%, and STBL's highest increase of 45 times. (Note: There are also four tokens that have almost returned to zero, so you need to be careful when investing) Binance Alpha allows users with high points to receive free airdrops through trading volume. The benefits of airdrop tokens are very impressive. For example, Binance Alpha airdropped 4000 STBL tokens last week, and the value was as high as 2000 U in just three days. Meanwhile, the value of 1,667 MYX airdrops issued by Binance Alpha on May 6 has now soared to $15,669, reaching a maximum of $31673, which is equivalent to RMB 220,000. “You experience Binance Alpha, Binance gives you a free car.” This has also successfully attracted many crypto users back to the Binance ecosystem. However, the “Binance Alpha” product is not a charity; it also has its own drawbacks. When the market market falls, people who experience the “Binance Alpha” product need to bear losses if they misoperate it. However, those who can maintain discipline are often in the minority. Behind the explosion of the “Binance Alpha” product, it represents a trend where the on-chain world has become mainstream in the crypto world at a pace that can be seen with the naked eye. Binance, OKX, Coinbase, Bybit, Bitget... almost all major exchanges already focus on wallet products. But very few actually escaped. Previously, the Binance Wallet experience was criticized by users, and then the launch of “Binance Alpha” made Binance Wallet an instant hit. Binance has also found a “big brother” feeling in the on-chain world. “Binance Alpha” has been in development for half a year, and some people have gradually recognized it as an “on-chain spot coin...

Demystifying the logic of making money in the coin industry: how to get the first 10 million on the cusp

Demystifying the logic of making money in the coin industry: how to get the first 10 million on the cusp

Author: @alpha_gege编辑: Biteye Core Contributor Denise Original title: Demystifying the Myths of Fortune in the Coin Industry, How to Earn the First 10 Million in Your Life? Every time the market fluctuates, friends call out, “Why can people have freedom of wealth?” Today, Pigeon Pigeon will take everyone to eat melons. How did the 10 richest bosses in the coin industry get rich? Where did their first pot of gold come from? What are some exclusive routines? After reading it, remember to copy your homework well. After all, these are all the paths that the bosses have walked and stepped on! 01 List of famous billionaires in the coin industry Note: The above are estimates of public wealth. Actual market fluctuations may affect asset values. Next, let's take a look at the rich stories of these wealthy people in the coin industry one by one, and how they each earned their first pot of gold. 1. Speaking of the richest person in the coin industry, Satoshi Nakamoto definitely couldn't get around the mysterious person Satoshi Nakamoto, the creator of Bitcoin. He published the Bitcoin white paper in 2008, officially launched the Bitcoin network in 2009, and is known as the “father of cryptocurrency.” Until now, nothing is known about his true identity. He has never appeared in public, and has always been one of the biggest mysteries in the coin industry. Although no one knows who he is, the approximately 1.1 million bitcoins he unearthed in his early mining was his first pot of gold. These bitcoins have almost never been moved or sold, but have rapidly increased in value as the price of Bitcoin soared, and are now worth around $125 billion! Arguably, the more successful Bitcoin is, the more valuable the coin he holds. However, Satoshi Nakamoto himself disappeared after 2010, and some people even speculated that he might have lost his private key or is no longer alive. Regardless of the truth, the myth of wealth created by Satoshi Nakamoto's first-mover advantage is unquestionably the ceiling level in the coin industry. 2. As the founder of Binance, Zhao Changpeng's experience is almost a textbook on entrepreneurship in the cryptocurrency industry. In his early years, CZ was a technical man who wrote code. He participated in the creation of the OKCoin exchange, but quit soon after. His first pot of gold dates back to 2014, when he sold his house in Shanghai and exchanged it for about 1,500 bitcoins (the price of a bitcoin was only around $600 at the time). Bitcoin skyrocketed over the next few years, allowing CZ to achieve considerable asset appreciation and lay the capital foundation for his later ventures. In 2017, he keenly grasped the bull market in the coin industry and founded Binance. Relying on an efficient matching engine, thoughtful user experience, and the issuer platform BNB as the core of the ecosystem, it only took a few months to become one of the most traded cryptocurrency exchanges in the world. Binance's initial profit model was also very simple and crude, matching transaction fees + platform currency appreciation. If you think about it, exchanges just charge “toll fees”. The more popular the market and the more transactions, the more money they make. Since then, with the rise of the Binance business, CZ's personal wealth skyrocketed like a snowball, and once became the richest Chinese. It can be said that creating a trading platform put CZ on the fast track to becoming rich, and his determination to go all in Bitcoin in the first place was a key step in his career. 3. Giancarlo DevasinigiCarlo Devasini probably isn't familiar to many people, but everyone who plays with coins knows the USDT issued by the Tether company he founded. In fact, he first graduated as a plastic surgeon, but later got bored and switched to electronic products. Devasini's first cryptocurrency came from investing in the Bitfinex exchange in 2012, then co-founded the Tether stablecoin project with others in 2014. The stablecoin market was still empty at the time. Devasini saw this opportunity with a sharp eye and turned USDT into an alternative to the US dollar in the coin industry. Today, USDT is the main stablecoin commonly used by major exchanges. The resulting sharp rise in valuation has caused his wealth to explode in recent years. To put it bluntly, he just identified gaps in the market and then went to the end. 4. Brian Armstrong, founder of Coinbase, the largest exchange in the US, followed a completely different path. As a software engineer, he first came into contact with Bitcoin while working at Airbnb around 2010, and was keenly aware that the process of buying Bitcoin at the time was too cumbersome and unfriendly. In 2012, he resolutely quit his job and founded Coinbase. Soon after, he received seed investment from Y Combinator, and soon attracted venture capital, including the NYSE. This gave him plenty of capital in the early stages of his business. His first...

Interview with CZ: Bitcoin's highest price in this cycle may reach $1 million, and 99% of memes will eventually fail

Edited & Edited by: Shenzhen TechFlow Guest: Changpeng Zhao, Binance Founder Host: Farokh Podcast Source: FAROKH RADIO Original Title: CZ Talks Life Inside Prison, Trump Presidency, and State of Crypto! Broadcast date: May 6, 2025 Summary In this exclusive interview, Farokh had an in-depth conversation with Changpeng Zhao (Changpeng Zhao), the founder and former CEO of Binance, known as “CZ”. They discussed CZ's experience with incarceration and how he learned lessons from it; his thoughts on Trump's possible second presidential term; and also talked about his overall views and feelings about the current cryptocurrency industry. Summary of exciting ideas Bitcoin's highest price in this cycle is likely to be between $500,000 and $1,000,000. At the end of the year, the total market capitalization of the cryptocurrency market was around $5 trillion. Judging from the current trend, the government is only buying more and more bitcoins. I hope ordinary investors can buy bitcoins before the government. I realised I'd never be a Memecoin trader. I'm not a cryptocurrency trader either. I prefer to be a platform builder and build tools for people to use rather than personally participate in transactions. Artificial intelligence (AI) is a very important field, and I'm particularly interested in the field of science. In addition, there are some applications that are closer to reality, such as RWA (real world assets), and ETFs are also a very interesting direction. One obvious problem in the industry right now is that “Memecoins” are overheating, and there is too much money pouring into these Memecoins in the market. In the short term, 99.999% of Memecoins will eventually fail. I think the traditional media industry needs to change, otherwise they will be eliminated by the times. Some stories often don't investigate real issues, but rather have clear personal topics and are specific to certain people. Not only was this practice unprofitable, it damaged the company's reputation. I realized that health is the most important thing, followed by family, then work and other things. In prison, you'll find that you don't really miss food. Although I miss a comfortable bed once in a while, what concerns me the most is my family. In the past, I wasn't sensitive to issues such as geopolitics, but now I'm aware that these political agendas may directly affect individuals and may even get you into trouble. So I'm more careful now. In the future, decentralized exchanges will be larger than centralized exchanges. We want to invest heavily in these areas. Exchanges exist not only for speculators; although they provide liquidity, more importantly, create a healthy ecosystem for long-term builders. I work at least six days a week, sometimes six and a half days. I schedule meetings even on weekends. Even when I'm not working, I always think about work-related things in my mind. Farokh: Hi everyone, I'm Farokh, welcome to Rock Radio. Today's guest is legendary CZ, founder of Binance. Thank you so much for taking the time to be interviewed. Do you like life here? I know you have a close relationship with the royal family here. What kind of experience is it to live in a desert? CZ: I live here, so I really like it. Actually, I could choose almost anywhere in the world to settle down, but in the end I chose this place. I think this is an amazing country. Although Dubai is very bustling, traffic is now a bit congested, there are many people, and the pace of development is very fast. Abu Dhabi, on the other hand, is quieter and more low-key, but at the same time very powerful. I think this is one of the countries with the best leadership abilities in the world. Farokh: We have a lot of topics to talk about today, such as your views on the cryptocurrency industry, Trump's presidential term, Abu Dhabi's government policies, etc. I originally wanted to talk about crypto legislation, but I thought that part was too boring, so I skipped it today. We might talk about your prison experience, the comparison between centralized and decentralized exchanges, or even Memecoin. If time permits, we can also talk about Binance. Of course, there is also a prediction game section at the end. Your predictions for this year are very accurate, so let's take a look at what's next today. It's not going to be a...
